Eligibility for the Obama Foundation Leaders Africa Program 2024:

  • Applicants must be citizens of an African country or territory.
  • Applicants must be permanent residents of an African country or territory.
  • Applicants must have lived in an African country or territory for at least 5 years, regardless of citizenship or permanent residence status.
  • Applicants will be between 24 and 45 years of age on August 26, 2024.
  • Applicants who are professionally proficient in spoken and written English.

Leaders participate in the following core elements as part of the program:

  • Weekly Virtual Video Calls: The main avenue for collective interaction is through live virtual sessions, occurring approximately four times a month. These connections provide fresh content, including discussions with experts, introductions to leadership frameworks, skill-building activities, and interactive small-group work conducted in breakout rooms.
  • Monthly Community Groups: Leaders collaborate within peer learning groups that promote the cultivation of stronger relationships and peer-driven learning. These groups provide opportunities for reflection on case studies featuring prominent African leaders and facilitate discussions around open questions emerging from the group sessions.
  • Individualized Leadership Coaching: Every Leader is matched with a coach to support them in enhancing self-awareness, defining goals, generating ideas, accomplishing developmental objectives, and unlocking their full potential.
