Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023

The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition has been around since 1883 and is the oldest international writing contest in the world. In 2023, the competition will be celebrating 140 years of recognizing young people’s achievements, giving them a platform to share their voices, and helping them build their writing skills. This year’s competition covers a funded trip to London.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Commonwealth Youth Programme, Commonwealth Heads of Government have designated 2023 as a year devoted to youth-driven initiatives for sustainable and comprehensive development. They have also urged for the revitalization and enhancement of our commitment to the inclusion and engagement of young people. Approximately 60% of the Commonwealth’s population of 2.5 billion is under the age of 30, creating a powerful and influential demographic of younger individuals. The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023 is asking students to explore how these young people can become involved in global advocacy and decision-making, and how they can use their strength to create meaningful change in the world.
