The NITDA/Coursera Digital capacity building Scholarships 2023 is an opportunity for outstanding Nigerian students to Digital capacity building opportunities focused on specific areas of study to learn digital entrepreneurship skills, start-up finance, and design thinking that would make them digital job readiness.
The Digital capacity building Scholarships is established by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Coursera under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to offer three learning pathways that have been designed to support the development of Nigeria’s digital economy and the tech ecosystem. The three learning pathways are:
- Tech Learning Pathway is focused on specific areas of IT such as data engineering, data science, data analytics, mobile, and web development, IT security, and infrastructure.
- Career Readiness Pathway is meant for recent graduates to excel by gaining career readiness skills like self-awareness, career development, job search, job success, digital literacy, digital job readiness, and productivity tools, as well as emerging technologies in areas like big data, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.
- Entrepreneurship Pathway is meant for unemployed youths and start-up founders to learn digital entrepreneurship skills, start-up finance, design thinking, communication skills, creative thinking, and product management for managing their businesses.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is a public service institution established by the NITDA Act 2007 as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has the sole responsibility of developing programs that cater to the running of ICT-related activities in the country. NITDA has also mandated the implementation of policy guidelines for driving ICT in Nigeria. It plays an advisory role in copyright law by verifying and revision applicable laws in tandem with the application of software and technology acquisition. The majority of these activities are achieved through the organization of workshops which cater to the training needs of her staff, government functionaries, and education sectors.
