Suitably qualified applicants from developing countries who are no more than 32 years of age are invited to submit applications for the UNFCCC Early Career Climate Fellowship Programme at the United Nations University (UNU) worth a stipend of 2,329 euros per month throughout the fellowship period.

The UNFCCC Early Career Climate Fellowship Program at the United Nations University to offers young people from developing countries a unique opportunity to start their careers at the interface between international climate policy development and research. Academically outstanding young graduates from developing countries who are in the early stages of their careers are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to women from underdeveloped countries. The fellowships will last for the period of one year with the possibility of an extension of another year subject to satisfactory performance. Fellows will be selected based on their skills and backgrounds. Eligibility for the UNFCCC Early Career Climate Fellowship Programme at UNU:

  • Applicants must be from a developing country.
  • Applicants must not be more than 32 years of age at the time of application.
  • Applicants with dual nationality must have lived in the least developed country for a minimum of six years.
  • Applicants should display an interest in the interface between international climate policy and research.
  • Applicants should be highly motivated to work and learn in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Applicants must have strong written and spoken English language skills.
  • Applicants should demonstrate they possess relevant key competencies required for the fellowship in line with the UN Values and Behaviours Framework.
