2023 Woodrow Wilson Center Visiting Arab Journalist Program

The 2023 Woodrow Wilson Center Visiting Arab Journalist Program is worth a stipend of $5,000 per month to suitably qualified Arab men and women from, and working in, the Middle East or North Africa in the Arabic media who are members of the print, television, radio or electronic media and currently working as reporters and columnists or broadcasters.

The Woodrow Wilson Center Visiting Arab Journalist Program will be recruiting one Arab, Middle Eastern, or North African journalist to spend 3 months in residence at the Woodrow Wilson Center, in Washington, D.C., where they will carry out advanced, policy-oriented research and writing. This fellowship program is made possible by generous financial support provided by Dr. David Ottaway, Middle East Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center. During the fellowship program, participants will be strongly encouraged to take part occasionally in conferences organized by the Center’s Middle East Program, and in other ways to take part in the intellectual life of the Wilson Center and the larger community of Middle East observers in Washington.

The Woodrow Wilson program is in honor of Thomas Woodrow Wilson who was an American politician and academic who served as the 28th president of the United States from 1913 to 1921. A member of the Democratic Party, Wilson served as the president of Princeton University and as the governor of New Jersey before winning the 1912 presidential election. He was the leading architect of the League of Nations, and his progressive stance on foreign policy came to be known as Wilsonianism.
