Heinrich Böll Stiftung Global Feminist Pitch 2024

Aspiring Feminist Documentary Filmmakers from Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and (South) Eastern Europe are invited to apply for the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Global Feminist Pitch 2024.

Through the Global Feminist Pitch, Heinrich Böll Stiftung supports young feminists from eligible countries above to make solidarities between feminists and feminist movements worldwide visible through different formats. The Global Feminist Pitch 2024 will give five eligible feminists the chance to document feminist protest culture from their region in the form of a 15-minute documentary film that will be produced by Deblokada Production from Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and become part of a film omnibus/anthology film.

Through this documentary film, they will be supported by the Global Unit for Feminism and Gender Democracy, Deblokada Production, and experts from the industry through workshops, consultations, and feedback sessions. The finished documentary film will premiere at the end of 2025/beginning of 2026. The documentary film will show the power of feminist protest culture, contribute to the global debate on feminist movements, complement the existing discourse, and provide feminists, activists, and organizations with insights into how feminism is lived in different parts of the world.

Eligibilty for the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Global Feminist Pitch 2024:

Applicants must be between 25 and 35 years old.
Applicants must be from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or (South) Eastern Europe;
Applicants must have a good command of the English language;
Applicants must be an aspiring documentary filmmaker with relevant experience and background;
Applicants must have the necessary equipment for filming (picture and sound);
Applicants must have a feminist background and you have worked on feminist issues before;
Applicants must have the interest and time to be a part of the Global Feminist Pitch until August 2025.

Selection Criteria:

Five feminist filmmakers from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and (South) Eastern Europe with the best proposals and relevant experience will be selected to participate in the Global Feminist Pitch. The five feminist filmmakers will receive:

The agreed honorarium as compensation for their work;
The assistance of the Global Unit for Feminism and Gender Democracy and Deblokada Production throughout the Global Feminist Pitch;
The possibility to participate in online workshops, learn from experts in the industry, and connect with other feminist filmmakers from different parts of the world;
The possibility to have their 15-minute documentary film be part of a film omnibus, produced by Deblokada Production and released by the Global Unit for Feminism and Gender Democracy.
