Suitably qualified law students from Africa who are going into their 3rd and 4th year in 2025 are invited to apply for the Canon Collins Trust Leigh Day LLB Scholarships 2025 at the University of Fort Hare and the University of the Western Cape starting from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Leigh Day LLB Scholarships sponsored by Canon Collins Trust are offered to current 2nd and 3rd-year law students from Africa who will be going into their 3rd and 4th year in 2025 at the University of Fort Hare and the University of the Western Cape. This Undergraduate scholarship will provide funding for a maximum of two years.
The Canon Collins Trust Leigh Day LLB Scholarships 2025 is worth R40,000, per academic year and will be paid into the student account, so initially, it will go towards the cost of fees, and any remaining funds can be used for accommodation, books, or other purposes relevant to the student’s studies.

Eligibility for the Canon Collins Trust Leigh Day LLB Scholarships 2025:
- Applicants must be current second or third-year LLB students at the University of Fort Hare or the University of the Western Cape.
- Applicants must be a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- Applicants must have a strong academic record and extra-curricular involvement.
- A 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate Law student at the University of Fort Hare or the University of the Western Cape.
Scholarship Benefits:
- Awards will be R40,000 per academic year. Funding will be provided for up to a maximum of two years. We support both full and part-time study and will consider applications from those who wish to study by distance learning.
- Canon Collins Trust also organizes an annual conference for current scholars and holds several smaller events throughout the year. Scholarship holders are expected to participate in these activities and to become part of and contribute to our network.
