ARES Belgium Government Masters and Continuing Education Scholarships 2025
Nationals of an ARES partner country who hold a higher education diploma and meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship and bachelor, master’s, or continuing education programs in Belgium for the 2025/2026 academic session are invited to apply for the fully funded ARES Belgium Government Masters and Continuing Education Scholarships 2025.
The ARES Belgium Government Masters and Continuing Education Scholarships offer suitably qualified Nationals of an ARES partner country the opportunity to follow a one-year advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree program or a 2-to-6-month continuing education program within a higher education institution of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium for the 2025/2026 academic session. These Bachelor’s scholarships, Master’s scholarships, and continuing education are fully funded for the entire duration of the program.
The Academy for Research and Higher Education (ARES) is the federation of higher education institutions (HEIs) of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (FWB) in Belgium.

Eligibility for the ARES Belgium Government Masters and Continuing Education Scholarships 2025:
- Applicants must be a national of, reside in, and work in one of the 31 eligible countries
- Applicants must hold a diploma comparable to a 2nd cycle diploma (300 ECTS credits) from a Belgian university for specialized masters and continuing education courses;
Hold an appropriate diploma
- For specialized masters and continuing education courses (Bac+5 equivalent), have a degree comparable to a 2nd cycle degree (300 ECTS credits) from a Belgian university;
- For specialized bachelor’s (equivalent to Bac+3), have a diploma comparable to a 1st cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits) of Belgian higher education.
- The applicants must have held the relevant academic degree for a maximum of 20 years when the course begins. This maximum period is increased by a one-year event of childbirth and/or adoption.
- A diploma is comparable to a 1st cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits) from Belgian higher education for specialization baccalaureate.
- Demonstrate at least two years’ relevant professional experience in an ARES partner country.
- Applicants with a minimum of 2 years’ professional experience after the end of a bachelor’s degree for specialized bachelors and a master’s for specialized masters and continuing education courses.
Scholarship Duration:
- Bachelor’s and specialized master’s degrees: 12 months maximum.
- Continuing training: 2 to 6 months maximum.

Method of Application for the ARES Belgium Government Masters and Continuing Education Scholarships 2025:
Interested and eligible applicants are to submit a complete application online via the GIRAF platform. Follow the steps below:
- Have a Giraf account (create one or use your account if it has already been created and validated by ARES).
- Access the application form by clicking on Application for international training > My Tasks> Competitive calls.
- Fill in the form (it can be filled in several times. You can find it in Competitive calls > My tasks).
- Submit your application by clicking on Submit my application. Once submitted, you will be able to assess your file in the My Submitted Files table.

- October 18, 2024, at noon (Belgian time, UTC+1): Deadline for submitting applications via the GIRAF platform
- Candidate selection process: From November 25, 2024, to April 11, 2025.
