Suitably qualified South African students are invited to apply for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation-SAIIA Scholarships 2025 and get funded for a master’s degree program while working as an intern. The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is a German political foundation named after the first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and the foundation operates worldwide to promote democracy through dialogue, political education, and training.
KAS has funded an internship and Master’s scholarship program since 1999 run by SAIIA’s Cape Town office in conjunction with the University of the Witwatersrand. These Konrad Adenauer Foundation-SAIIA Scholarships provide eligible South African students with the opportunity to enroll for a master’s degree by course work in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law or Journalism, and other related subjects within the Humanities and Social Sciences discipline for the 2025/2025 academic session, while simultaneously working at SAIIA.
The program is output-focused and the KAS-SAIIA scholars are assigned to mentors and generally go on to high-profile and high-powered positions in public and private life. The scholars are supported in honing their methodological, research, and writing skills, and are encouraged to co-author articles in SAIIA publications and to improve their presentation and organizational skills.
