Suitably qualified international students from the eligible countries listed below who are looking to enroll in a postgraduate degree program at any higher institution of learning in Malaysia for the 2024/2025 academic session are invited to apply for the fully funded Government of Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) 2024.

This fully funded Postgraduate scholarship sponsored by the Malaysian Government aims to attract brilliant minds from the listed eligible countries to study a postgraduate degree program in Malaysia for the 2024/2025 academic session. This financial aid program is due to Malaysia’s aspiration to emerge as one of the world’s centers of academic excellence by attracting, motivating, and retaining talented students from all over the globe.

Eligibility for the Government of Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) 2024:

  • Applicants must intend to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Masters/PhD) in Malaysia.
  • Applicants must be currently pursuing full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysian public universities and selected private higher educational institutions.

Applicant must also meet the following conditions:

  • Is not more than 40 and 45 years old at the time of application for Master and PhD levels respectively
  • Possessing good academic qualifications:
    • Masters applicants: obtaining CGPA 3.0 / 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or higher at Bachelor’s Degree level;
    • PhD applicants: obtaining CGPA 3.0 / excellent results at the master level in a course related to the intended study program
  • Mastering good proficiency in the English Language:
    • Obtaining band 6.0 or higher in IELTS; or
    • Obtaining a total score of 550 or higher in the TOEFL paper-based test (PBT)
    • Has obtained a previous degree(s) with English used as the medium of instruction (evidence is a prerequisite).
  • Submitting a written research proposal with a minimum of 1,000 words that is relevant to the intended field of study.

  • ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam)
  • Commonwealth countries (CPA regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, British Islands & Mediterranean, Canada, The Caribbean, Americas & The Atlantic, India, and the Pacific)
  • Afghanistan, Nepal, Albania, Oman, Algeria, Pakistan, Australia, Palestine, Azerbaijan, Qatar, China, Russian Federation, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Senegal, Hong Kong, South Korea, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Tajikistan,  Japan, Timor-Leste, Jordan, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, Turkiye, Kuwait, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, United Arab Emirates, Libya, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Yemen, Morocco.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • This scholarship is limited to tuition fees and a monthly living allowance of RM 1,500.00 per month.
  • Successful applicants are expected to independently arrange their travel to Malaysia (non-financial provisions). Travel expenses will not be provided by the Government of Malaysia.
  • All applicants are highly advised to check the expected living expenses in Malaysia.

Applicants will have to provide all the necessary information and have the compulsory documents listed below scanned and saved in PDF format which will later be uploaded to the online application system.
