Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship 2023 at Columbia University in USA

The Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship 2023 at Columbia University in USA is a fully funded fellowship program established in 1999 by the Dart Center in partnership with the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies for Mid-Career Journalists at the university in New York City. Applications are now open for the 2023 Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship. This unique program is designed to help senior and midcareer journalists understand the psychological effects of trauma, violence, conflict, and tragedy, and how to handle these topics in reporting.

The Ochberg Fellowships, the Dart Center‘s highestprofile global program, is an exclusive seminar that gathers together journalists from all over the world to gain a better understanding of trauma and to develop more effective coverage of violence, strife, and tragedy. Since its inception in 1999, these fellowships have given more than 200 journalists from 25 countries the opportunity to deepen their knowledge. The program is named in honor of Dr. Frank Ochberg, a clinical psychiatry professor at Michigan State University, who is credited with defining and treating posttraumatic stress disorder, Stockholm Syndrome, and other responses to trauma and violence. The fellowship program will involve briefings from renowned interdisciplinary professionals in trauma and mental health, discussions with journalists about ethics, skill-building, and other professional topics, as well as chances for intellectual dialogue and learning from peers.
