The West Africa Civil Society Institute Next Generation Internship Programme 2023 is a fully funded internship program in Accra, Ghana. WACSI is a non-profit organization focused on building the skills of civil society groups in West Africa to make them more sustainable and efficient in their operations and growth.

WACSI launched the Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP) in 2008 to meet the need for structured, hands-on capacity building for young West Africans. This program focuses on fresh graduates or early career professionals and provides them with six months of work experience in areas such as leadership, knowledge management, program management, and critical development issues for West Africa. During their internships, participants are expected to be actively involved in all WACSI activities.

Eligibility for the West Africa Civil Society Institute Next Generation Internship Programme 2023:

  • WACSI is in search of interns from Cote D’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, and Sierra Leone who are driven to expand their civic knowledge and sharpen their professional skills. These interns will be placed in WACSI’s three main departments: Capacity Development, Policy Influencing and Advocacy, and Knowledge Management.
  • Applicants must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, political science, public policy, law, development studies, or a related field in order to be eligible. In addition, they must demonstrate an interest in civil society and non-profit organization management.
  • Priorities will be given to applicants with high proficiency in English, French, or Portuguese and a working knowledge of one other.

Benefits of the West Africa Civil Society Institute Next Generation Internship Programme 2023:

WACSI is providing a fully funded internship, which includes round-trip airfare to and from their home country, furnished housing, lunch on work days for the duration of the internship, and a monthly stipend.

Job Role for the West Africa Civil Society Institute Next Generation Internship Programme 2023:

  • Supporting in designing and implementing institutional assessment tools, training, and technical support.
  • Developing and drafting project work plans, reports, concept notes, and other documentation, such as training and resource materials, presentations, and budget proposals.
  • Conduct desktop research on policy and legislative issues.
  • Assist in gathering information and writing reports for policy meetings
  • Participating in unit and cross-unit program/project planning and proposal development.
  • Providing general administrative support for programs, budget monitoring, tracking, and maintaining a calendar of activities.
  • Assisting with arrangements and organization of the various pieces of training and technical support planned under the Unit.
  • Serving as a liaison between WACSI and resource persons, associates, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Aiding in designing and developing training tools such as toolkits, modules, and other indigenous training resources.
  • Researching, writing, and producing briefings and fact sheets on ongoing programs and projects.
  • Assist in policy meetings and workshop preparation.
  • Assist in the development of policy advocacy training tools.
  • Support other administrative tasks.
  • Any other duties that the Head of the Unit may assign.
