Transnet Graduate Trainee Program 2022 for Young Graduates

South African rail, port and pipeline company Transnet SOC Ltd are pleased to welcome as well as invite highly suitable young graduates who wish to further and broaden their knowledge in the industry sector to enroll for their ongoing internship program termed as Graduate Trainee for the 2022 session.

The internship program will run for about 2 years and opened up for Bachelors degree holders as well as Masters holders. The Company workplace offers outstanding opportunities aimed towards attracting results driven individuals who are suitably qualified and who can aspire to even greater heights in the company.

During the various trainee courses, learners will be experienced the multi-million rand full-mission Ship Handling Simulator. It is used to train Marine Pilots and Tug Masters, bringing them up to par with the International Standards Training, Certification and Watch-keeping (STCW) requirements and refining their skills with refresher training.

In addition, the MSoE has Terminal Operations Simulators, RTG Crane, as well as the Ship-to-Shore Container crane will provide learners the real-time ability to operate, manoeuvre and familiarise themselves on all terminal related equipment and machinery.

Additional simulators such as Reach Stacker, Counter Balance, Mobile Harbour Crane, Rail Mounted Gantry, Straddle Carrier and Truck handling Simulator will be available to add to the elite training provided by the Maritime School of excellence.

Requirements and eligibility criteria for the 2022 Transnet Graduate Trainee Program;

Applicants must be graduate
Operator Lifting Equipment (OLE): As an OLE you will be focusing on supporting Port and Terminal operations.
You will need:
Grade 12 (matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science,
Code 8/EB driver’s licence valid for at least three years,
Computer literate,
Be physically fit and healthy,
Be prepared to work shifts and in adverse weather conditions,
Pass a pre-entry examination and a medical examination, which will include an assessment of hand-eye coordination, depth perception and the ability to work at heights.
A technical certificate knowledge N1-N6 will be an added advantage.
Skipper Port Operations (SPO):As an SPO, you’ll be in charge of a vessel over 25 tons, but less than 200 tons, in a port operations area.
You will need:
Grade 12 (matric) with mathematics and physical science,
Pass a pre-entry examination and a medical examination.
Marine Motorman Grade II (MMG):As a MMG, you will undertake maintenance, repairs and servicing of engines and auxiliaries on board a vessel in a port operations area, under the supervision of the Chief Engineer.
Here you will need:
Grade 12 (matric) with mathematics and physical science,
An EGPR/GPR (general purpose rating),
Pass a pre-entry examination and a medical examination,and
Be physically fit and healthy.
Minimum requirements vary with each course however a Grade 12 with a Level 4 in the following compulsory subjects: English; Mathematics, Physical Science
