The 2023 Doc Society Climate Story Fund for creative nonfiction projects

Suitably qualified applicants whose projects must be climate-themed with an intention to implement an impact campaign are invited to submit application for the 2023 Doc Society Climate Story Fund for creative nonfiction projects that supports compelling storytelling and impact campaigns from around the world that move everyone closer to a climate just and biodiverse future. The fund will support 6 to 8 projects with grants ranging between $50,000 to $100,000 per project.

The Climate Story Fund was established and funded by the Doc Society to take a keen interest in climate stories centering the most affected, the unengaged, and the underrepresented, and putting them at the center of the story. The Fund also prioritizes storytellers working in and from those communities, sharing narratives that resonate deeply with new and unengaged audiences, and bringing them into critical conversations around climate justice.

The Doc Society is a social entrepreneurship organization created in 2005. They have supported the production of over 60 films that have won awards since its inception. The organization believes that documentaries are a vital part of culture and democracy with a unique role to play in reflecting on the way people live and challenging their ideas, assumptions, and fears about the past, present, and future of the world.
