HFG Distinguished Scholar Awards 2023 for Researchers
The Harry Frank Guggenheim (HFG) Foundation is soliciting applications for the HFG Distinguished Scholar Awards 2023 for Researchers from qualified candidates. The Foundation is open to proposals from the social and natural sciences that address pressing contemporary issues of violence.
While the Foundation provides backing for research on the fundamental mechanisms behind the violence, priority is given to proposals that present a persuasive argument for the applicability of potential discoveries to policies aimed at mitigating such problems. The majority of awards typically range from $15,000 to $45,000 per year, spanning one or two years. Applications seeking larger sums or extended periods will also be evaluated but with a strict emphasis on strong justification. Institutions are not eligible for awards for institutional programs. Taxation may apply to the individuals receiving the research grants.

- Applicants for the award may be citizens of any country.
- While almost all recipients of these awards possess a Ph.D., M.D., J.D., or equivalent degree, there are no formal degree requirements for the award.
- The award may not be used to support research undertaken as part of the requirements for a graduate degree.
- Applicants need not be affiliated with an institution of higher learning, although most are college or university professors.
- Applicants need to demonstrate excellent research abilities.
