Global Peace Photo Award 2023 for Photographers Worldwide
The Global Peace Photo Award honors and encourages photographers worldwide who capture in their images the pursuit of beauty, goodness, and peaceful coexistence among people. The Global Peace Photo Award 2023 for Photographers Worldwide recognizes photographs that best convey the message that a peaceful world is a way forward.
The Global Peace Photo Award will collaborate with various organizations, including UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, the Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, the International Press Institute (IPI), the German Youth Photography Award, the World Press Photo Foundation, POY LATAM, LensCulture, and Vienna Insurance Group, to organize the event.
Edition Lammerhuber, an Austrian publishing house located near Vienna in Baden, that specializes in photography and the exploration of science and art, along with the Photographische Gesellschaft (PHG), founded in Vienna in 1861, the second-oldest photographic society globally, jointly presents the Global Peace Photo Award. Anton Georg Martin established PHG on March 22, 1861, at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna.

Value of Award for the Global Peace Photo Award 2023 for Photographers Worldwide:
- A cash prize of €10,000 will be awarded to the winner of the Peace Image of the Year. Additionally, the winning photograph will be exhibited for a year in the Austrian Parliament and will become a part of the parliamentary art collection permanently.
- The photographers who make it to the top five will receive the Alfred Fried Peace Medal, and their work will be exhibited in the Austrian Parliament for a year.
- The recipient of the Children’s Peace Image of the Year award will receive €1,000, and the photograph will be exhibited in the Austrian Parliament for a year.
- An invitation will be extended to all the awardees to attend the award ceremony on November 14, 2022, at the Austrian Parliament in Vienna.
- Every image submitted has the opportunity to be featured in international exhibitions.
Eligibility for the Global Peace Photo Award 2023 for Photographers Worldwide:
- Open to all photographers from anywhere in the world.
- Digital submissions must be saved as .jpg, with more than 3000 pixels on the longest side. Images must not include any embedded marks, logos, names, or borders.
- Applicants may enter several photographs as individual submissions without an overall theme. Or applicants can submit up to 12 photographs as one story.
Judging Criteria:
The Global Peace Photo Award’s international panel of judges will evaluate the photographs based on criteria such as artistic excellence, originality, subject matter, and style.
Method of Application for the Global Peace Photo Award 2023 for Photographers Worldwide:
Each submission, whether a single image or a series of images, must include an English caption with a maximum length of 2000 characters via the registration portal. Please keep your text brief and to the point, as the judges prefer concise and essential captions.
