Applications are now open for the ARES International Training Scholarships 2027 to Study in Belgium to enable suitably qualified international students to pursue a bachelor’s degree, a one-year specialisation master’s degree or a six-month continuing professional development course at an institution in Belgium.
The ARES International Training Scholarships 2027 offers permanent resident of an ARES partner country who have a higher education degree or a professional experience and would like to deepen their skills in a development-related topic to undertake a bachelor’s degree, a one-year specialisation master’s degree or a six-month continuing professional development course at an institution within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium for the 2027/2028 academic session.
As part of the 2027–2032 five-year programme, ARES is offering a new range of international study programmes, enabling you to undertake these eligible programs for free in Belgium. The Bachelors Scholarship and Masters scholarship are somewhat fully funded as it covers the major part of study expenses for the entire duration of studies.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a permanent resident and work in one of the 32 eligible countries (see list below). Exception: Palestinian nationals are eligible even if they do not reside in one of these 32 countries.
- Hold a higher education degree and meet the admission requirements for the program, which are described on the ARES website.
- Have held the relevant academic degree for no more than 20 years prior to the start of the program. This maximum period is extended by one year for each birth and/or adoption.
- Demonstrate relevant professional occupation , in one of the 32 eligible countries, of at least two years after the last higher education diploma and before the closing date of the call.
- Complete the application in the language in which the training is provided and be able to demonstrate a good written and spoken command of that language . Furthermore, a basic knowledge of French facilitates integration into daily life in Belgium.
- Apply to only one course.

A specialized bachelor’s degree (12 months maximum)
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in Digital Integrated Supply Chain
Eight specialized master’s programs (12 months maximum)
- Master’s degree specializing in human rights
- Specialized Master’s degree in integrated health risk management
- Specialized Master in International and Development Economics
- Advanced Master in Microfinance
- Specialized Master’s degree in Public Health Sciences – Analysis and Evaluation of
- International Health Policies, Programs and Systems
- Specialized Master’s degree in food chain safety management
- Specialized Master’s degree in preventive conservation and collections
- Specialized Master’s degree in risk and disaster management in the Anthropocene era
Continuing education (maximum 6 months)
- Certificate in cybersecurity operations and risk governance

In Africa: South Africa, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Uganda, DR Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
In South America and the Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru.
In Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam.
In Asia: Palestine.
Scholarship Benefits

Method of Application
Follow the steps below to apply for the ARES International Training Scholarships 2027:
- Having a GIRAF account: If you already have a GIRAF account created and validated by ARES, use it to log in. Otherwise, complete this account creation request form.
- Access the application form. Once logged into GIRAF, go to “ Competitive calls” click the “Application – International Training 2027-2028” button (only once).
- Complete and save the form. Fill in the form fields. Some mandatory fields, marked with an asterisk (*), must be completed before the first save . You can complete your application in several sessions by clicking on “Save as draft”.
- To retrieve your saved application, go to ” Competitive Tenders”, “My Tasks” . Select the relevant form, then click “Open”. You can continue to edit it as long as it is saved as a draft and has not yet been submitted.
- Submitting your application: Once your application is complete, click on “Submit my application”. After submission, your application will be available in “Competitive calls for tenders”, “My submitted applications”.
Please note: once submitted, the application cannot be modified .
