A. G. Leventis African Biodiversity Fellowship Programme 2023

The A. G. Leventis African Biodiversity Fellowship Programme 2023 is an annual fellowship program for suitably qualified African Researchers who are looking to pursue their research project at the University of Oxford and benefits from the endless opportunities it offers.

The A. G. Leventis African Biodiversity Fellowship Programme, which was launched in September 2021 and is led by Professor Milner-Gulland, Tasso Leventis Professor of Biodiversity in the Department of Biology and her team at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science, provides employees of NGOs, governments, businesses, and academic institutions that are involved in biodiversity conservation with the opportunity to take part in training courses, networking, and collaboration, write papers, and develop ideas during a three-month stay at Oxford University. It also offers remote support, training, and networking opportunities prior to and following the Fellowship. Those taking part can be based in any Department of the University and their project must be related to conservation.

Three Core Aims of the A. G. Leventis African Biodiversity Fellowship Programme 2023:

  • To equip conservation practitioners in NGOs, government officials, and businesses with improved skills, abilities, and connections to better facilitate conservation efforts in their respective countries, the local and international NGO sectors, government policy-makers, and corporate biodiversity strategists are developing and implementing programs.
  • To ensure that Oxford’s research is rooted in real-world conservation issues, and is conducted in partnership with those affected by the issues, Oxford will collaborate with in-country end-users.
  • To foster relationships between Oxford scholars and conservation professionals, enhancing Oxford’s capability to have a positive impact in the real world.
