Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest 2023

The Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest 2023 is currently accepting application submission from suitably qualified youths and children who fall under the eligible bracket from all over the globe to submit their essay using this year’s theme “Youth Creating a Peaceful Future” and stand a chance to win USD1,000 plus other amazing prizes.

The Goi Peace Foundation is sponsoring an International Essay Contest to encourage youth to explore the role they can play in creating a culture of peace and sustainable development. This competition seeks to tap into the creativity, energy, and enthusiasm of the world’s youth and to help society learn from their ideas for positive change. This program is part of UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development initiative, which is focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The theme for 2023 is “Youth Creating a Peaceful Future”. Applicants’ essays should answer this question: What are some ways that young people can strive for a peaceful world? What creative ideas and approaches could be used to create a more peaceful future? Please provide your specific ideas and suggestions on how to achieve this goal.

The International Essay Contest is organized by The Goi Peace Foundation under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, Japan Private High School Federation, Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Nikkei Inc and supported by SEIKO GROUP CORPORATION.

Eligibility for the Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest 2023:

  • Essays may be submitted by anyone up to 25 years old (as of June 15, 2023) in one of the following age categories: a) Children (ages up to 14)  b) Youth (ages 15 to 25).
  • Essays must be 700 words or less in English or French, or 1600 characters or less in Japanese.
  • Essays must be typed, with your name and essay title included at the top of the first page.
  • Essays must be submitted in either MS Word (DOC/DOCX) or PDF format.

Awards for the Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest 2023:

The following awards will be given in the Children’s category and Youth category respectively:

  • 1st Prize: Certificate, the prize of 100,000 Yen, and a gift for 1 entrant
  • 2nd Prize: Certificate, the prize of 50,000 Yen, and a gift for 3 entrants
  • 3rd Prize: Certificate and gift for 5 entrants
  • Honorable Mention: Certificate and gift for 25 entrants
