DAAD STEM Masters Scholarships 2026 (Fully Funded)

The application for the 2026 DAAD STEM scholarships for masters students has started. The programme will strive to indulge high-achieving graduates from developing countries, and a chance to further their education in STEM subjects in German University.

The program is a fully funded scholarship, meaning no tuition will be required from qualified applicants. It will also help in boosting the employability of these young academics and future professionals who are keen on furthering their education.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree program in a German recognized school before the application deadline.
  • Applicant must be a high-achieving student.

The DAAD Regional Office in Nairobi coordinates scholarship information and support for applicants from several countries across East and Central Africa.

  • South Sudan
  • Rwanda
  • Burundi
  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Somalia

Funding

  • Funding is available for a complete Master’s degree (full-time, on-campus) at a state or state-recognised university in Germany in the STEM subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and engineering. Study programmes with integrated stays outside Germany are excluded.
  • Interdisciplinary degree programmes must have a designated STEM focus.
  • It must be a tuition-free Master’s degree programme.

Funding Duration

  • Funding is provided for 10 months to a maximum of 24 months.
  • It depends on the standard period of study of the chosen full-time Master’s degree programme.
  • Please state the entire period for which you wish to apply for a scholarship in your application. For example, if you are planning a 2-year degree programme, you must directly indicate two years as the desired scholarship duration in your application.

Scholarship Worth

Under certain circumstances, you can apply for the following additional benefits after start of funding:

monthly rent subsidy

monthly allowance for accompanying members of family.

reimbursement of carbon offset payments for air travel
