Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund 2024
Motivated and qualified Tanzania students looking to pursue an undergraduate or master’s degree program at a Tanzanian university for the 2024/2025 academic session are invited to apply for the Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund 2024. The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund has announced ten (10) fully funded scholarship opportunities.
The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Bank of Tanzania on the 12th of October 2009 to commemorate the great achievements of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere. The Undergraduate scholarship and Master’s scholarship aim to sponsor Undergraduate female students with outstanding academic achievement to pursue Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, and Finance studies in Tanzanian-accredited universities for the 2024/2025 academic session to promote academic excellence in their respective fields.
In addition, the Fund also sponsors both male and female Tanzanian undergraduate students to undertake master’s degree Programmes in the above-mentioned fields of study.

Eligibility for the Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund 2024:
- Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen and must not be more than thirty-five years old.
- Applicant must have obtained First Class or Upper Second Class (honors) in the Bachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) score of 4.0 from an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
- Applicant should have completed a Bachelor’s degree in studies related to Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance.
- Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time Master’s degree program in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
The scholarships are awarded as follows:
1. Seven (7) Undergraduate Scholarships (Bachelor’s Degree Programmes): The undergraduate scholarships are granted to top performers in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (ACSEE) to pursue Undergraduate degree programs in two categories as follows:
Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students only); and
Category B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Economics, Accounting and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students)
Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students only) Applications for Scholarships under this category are for female candidates only and shall be required to meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education (ACSEE) in 2024.
- Applicant must be a female student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at ACSEE in Science or Mathematics subjects in the 2024 Advanced Level Secondary School Education Examinations.
- Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time Bachelor’s degree program in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
The program should commence in the 2024/2025 academic year in the field of Science or Mathematics.
Category B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students) Economics, Applications for Scholarships under this category are open to both male and female students and shall be required to meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a male or female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education in 2024.
- Applicant must be a student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at 2024 ACSEE in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, and Accounting subjects in the Advanced Level Secondary School Examinations.
- Applicant must have applied/been admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree program in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
The program should commence in the 2024/2025 academic year in any of the following fields: Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance.
2. Master’s Degree Programmes (Three Scholarships): The master’s degree Scholarships are open to both female and male students who are to enroll in Master’s degree programs in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, and Finance.
Method of Application for the Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund 2024:
Interested applicants are required to complete Scholarship Application Forms which can be accessed on the BOT website: www.bot.go.tz. Printed forms can be obtained from the Fund Administrator, Bank of Tanzania Sub Head Office, 2 Mirambo Street, 11884, DAR ES SALAAM.
The forms can also be obtained at the Bank of Tanzania Head Office, Dodoma, and Branch Offices (Arusha, Zanzibar, Mwanza, Mbeya, and Mtwara).
All application forms should be completed, scanned, and submitted online to the Chairperson, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund, Bank of Tanzania Sub-Head Office, 2 Mirambo Street, 11884, DAR ES SALAAM before the application deadline through the following email addresses:
