The primary objective of the leadership programme is to foster the growth of mid-career academics in Africa, focusing on thought leadership, team development, engagement, and collaboration. It caters to early-to-mid-career researchers in various disciplines, including but not limited to basic and applied science, engineering, social sciences, arts, and the humanities.

The program will employ an engaging and interactive training approach, emphasizing the application of skills to a leadership project, peer support, and mentorship. Fellows selected for the program will participate in a comprehensive five-day on-site program in Pretoria, South Africa, from December 1st to December 5th, 2023 (departing on the 6th). Throughout the program, a cyclical process of theory, application, and reflection will be employed. Participants will be encouraged to work collaboratively and devise initiatives that promote a new paradigm for science in Africa.
