Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2024

The Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2024 welcomes participation from undergraduate and Masters students from universities globally. Each university is invited to form teams of two students, with an emphasis on gender diversity, to submit legal briefs for a hypothetical human rights case.

The top 10 teams from each of the five United Nations regions are invited to take part in the online preliminary rounds. These 50 teams, selected based on the highest grades for their written memorials, will argue both sides of the hypothetical case. They will represent, in turn, both the Applicant and the Respondent in front of a panel comprising human rights experts and judges from international tribunals.

Eligibility for the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition 2024:

Applications are open to Undergraduate and Masters students from all universities around the world.
Applicants must be studying at a recognized university.
Applicants must demonstrate the need for economic support to participate in the world moot.

The 16th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition will be conducted in a hybrid format. The final rounds are set to be held in person at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 15 to 19, 2024, while the preliminary rounds will occur virtually (online) from May 14 to 21, 2024.
