NECO External Registration 2026: How to Apply

Registration for the NECO External Registration 2026: How to Apply is currently ongoing for private candidates who wish to take part in the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External or otherwise referred to as NECO GCE or NECO November/December examination.

To successfully register for the NECO External Registration 2026: How to Apply which is expected to hold from November 4 to November 21, 2026, candidates can do so through the official SSCE External registration portal before the deadline.

The NECO External examinations is mainly designed for private candidates who have previously attempted the Senior School Certificate Examination and wish to make up deficiencies in their WAEC results or as the case maybe. The NECO 2026 examination will operate in dual mode comprising of: Hybrid Computer-Based Examination (CBE) and Pen-and-Paper Examination (PPE).

Requirements

Candidates are required to provide a valid National Identification Number (NIN)
Candidates are required to provide a recent passport Photograph
Candidates are required to capture their Biometric Fingerprints which will be used for verification during the examination

Fees

The official registration fee for the NECO External Registration 2026 per candidate is #30,000 and covers the following:

Four-Figure Mathematical Table.
Waterproof Certificate Jacket/Folder.

Note: Late registration attracts an additional fee of ₦5,000. Applicable Stamp Duty/Remita charges might also apply, and registration fees are non-refundable.

Method of Application

To register for the NECO External Registration 2026, candidates should follow the steps below on How to Apply:

Visit the official NECO SSCE External registration portal.
Create an account using a valid email address or phone number.
Activate the account and log in.
Make the required payment through the available payment options.
Enter the required personal and examination information.
Provide your valid NIN.
Upload the required passport photograph.
Complete the required biometric fingerprint capture at a registration point/centre
Carefully check your information before final submission.
Print your NECO Photocard and examination timetable after completing registration.

Note: Candidates must ensure that their photograph and biometric information belong to them, as biometric verification will be conducted during the examination.

NECO Photocard and Examination Requirements

After registration, candidates should obtain at least one clear copy of their NECO Photocard.
The Referee’s Attestation section of the photocard must also be properly signed and stamped by an authorized referee as specified by NECO.
Candidates should keep their photocard safe because it will be required for admission into the examination centre.
