Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2026 at University of Rwanda

Eligible students from Africa who wish to enroll for an undergraduate degree program in Africa from the 2027 academic year are invited to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2026 at University of Rwanda.

The fully funded Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2026 provides academically talented, service-oriented young Africans facing social and economic barriers in Rwanda and Africa to pursue higher education and cultivate their leadership potential.

These Undergraduate scholarships creates conditions that enable young African students to obtain quality university education at the University of Rwanda in the following 7 Colleges (College of Science and Technology, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, College of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Sciences, College of Business and Economics, College of Education, College of Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production) operating on 6 Campuses namely Nyarugenge, Huye, Rukara, Busogo, Nyagatare and Rwamagana.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria below:

  • Be a citizen of Rwanda or any African country, a refugee, or a displaced young person in Africa.
  • Be academically qualified.
  • Demonstrate critical social and/or economic needs and/or disability.
  • For undergraduate applicants, be not older than 28 years at the time of application, or not older than 30 years for those with certified proof of a protracted life condition (e.g., refugees, single mothers, members of child-headed families, etc.).
  • Meet the admission criteria for eligible programs at the University of Rwanda.
  • Have proven records of leadership and community engagement.
  • Show a strong commitment to community engagement and be prepared to “Go Back” and/or “Give Back” to their community.
  • Refugees and individuals with disabilities are expected to provide legal proof of their status.
