The Japan Ministry of Education and Culture and Sport, Physical Education and Recreation Association is calling for qualified applicants for the Japanese Government MEXT Teachers Training Scholarship for 2025. Foreign educators are allowed to conduct their research on school education at the designated universities in Japan all expenses being catered for by the Japanese government. It includes the fees, medical, transport, and other subsistence expenses, to allow scholars to devote their time and energy to study.

This program is for Teacher Training Students who are conducting non-degree research in Japan. It is the perfect opportunity for educators to enhance their professional knowledge, raise their awareness of modern approaches to the teaching process, as well as gain actual practice in the international context. Eligibility;

  • Applicants must be nationals of countries with diplomatic ties to Japan.
  • Dual nationals must renounce their Japanese citizenship before arriving in Japan.
  • Born on or after April 2, 1990.
  • Academic & Professional Background: Graduates of universities or teacher training colleges with at least five years of teaching experience by April 1, 2025.
  • A strong willingness to learn Japanese is required.
  • Must be medically fit, confirmed by a certified health certificate.
  • Must arrive in Japan usually two weeks before the course starts.
  • Must obtain a “Student” visa before entering Japan and maintain this status.

Benefits: 

  • Monthly allowance: 143,000 yen, with a regional supplement of 2,000 or 3,000 yen.
  • Education Fees: Entrance exams, matriculation, and tuition fees at universities will be covered.
  • Travel Expenses: Covered by MEXT.

Method of Application;

To apply for the Japan Government MEXT Teachers Training Scholarship 2025, you should have the following documents and do the following:

  • Application Form
  • Placement Preference Application Form
  • Certified grade transcript from the last university or teacher training school attended
  • Diploma from the last university or teacher training school attended
    Certificate of employment
  • Recommendation letter from your immediate supervisor
  • Medical certificate
