Ireland Fellows Programme – Africa 2024

Applicants from eligible African countries are invited to apply for the Ireland Fellows Programme – Africa 2024. The Africa Scholarship/Fellowship is open to applicants from Lesotho and Zimbabwe who will be commencing their master’s study at any higher education institution in Ireland for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Through the Ireland Fellows Programme – Africa funded by Canon Collins Trust, early to mid-career professionals from Lesotho and Zimbabwe, with leadership potential are given the chance to benefit from a prestigious, qualitative, and world-class education through the Ireland Fellows Programme and thereafter will contribute to capacity building. Selected students are offered the opportunity to undertake a one-year master’s level study at a higher education institution (HEI) in Ireland with a fully funded Master’s scholarship package for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Eligibility for the Ireland Fellows Programme – Africa 2024:

Applicants must:

  • Be a resident national of one of the following countries: Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
  • Have a minimum of two or three years’ work experience that is directly relevant to your proposed program (s) of study, depending on the country (see the Guidance Note for Applicants).
  • Hold a bachelor’s level academic qualification from an accredited and government-recognized higher education institution, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) – i.e. a first-class honor, or second-class honor, Grade 1 (in some cases a second-class honor Grade 2 may be accepted, if the applicant has sufficient directly relevant work experience). It must have been awarded in 2012 or later (i.e. within the last 12 years).
  • Not already qualify for master’s level or higher. Not currently undertaking a program at master’s level or higher, or be due to start a program at master’s level or higher in the academic year 2024/25.
  • Be applying to commence a new program at the master’s level in Ireland no sooner than August 2024.
  • Be able to demonstrate the following: leadership abilities and aspirations; a commitment to the achievement of the SDGs within your own country; and a commitment to contribute to building positive relationships with Ireland.
  • Have identified and selected three programs relevant to your academic and professional background from the Directory of Eligible Programmes.
  • Have a clear understanding of the academic and English language proficiencies required for all programs chosen.
  • Must not have applied to the Ireland Fellows Programme on more than one previous occasion.
  • Be in a position to take up the Fellowship in the academic year 2024-2025.
