The IFAD Agrihub Nigeria Youth Agripreneurship Apprenticeship Program (YAAP) 2023 is offered to suitably qualified Nigerians who are between the ages of 18 and 29 years and are passionate about agriculture, especially renewable energy solutions relating to agriculture and its value chain.

The main objective of the IFAD Agrihub Nigeria initiative is to enhance the capabilities of jobless Nigerian young individuals and those who aspire to become agripreneurs, enabling them to either establish their own businesses or secure employment in the agricultural sector. The project has implemented several programs with the aim of improving the economic conditions of rural youth. Agrihub’s overarching goal is to implement a comprehensive approach that offers equal opportunities to individuals with limited education.

The outcome of IFAD Agrihub Nigeria Youth Agripreneurship Apprenticeship Program (YAAP) 2023:

IFAD’s Agrihub project has joined forces with BIC Farms Concepts to provide a robust education program on Soilless vegetable farming aimed at stimulating the enthusiasm of young men and women in agriculture. The project’s objective is to motivate youth participation in the sector.

The program encompasses theoretical instruction, hands-on field experience, and internship opportunities. The participants acquire valuable knowledge and skills related to commencing agribusiness ventures or pursuing employment within the agricultural sector as a result of the training.

Eligibility for the IFAD Agrihub Nigeria Youth Agripreneurship Apprenticeship Program (YAAP) 2023:

  • Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 29.
  • Applicants must be passionate about agriculture, especially renewable energy solutions relating to agriculture and its value chain.
  • Applicants must be unemployed when applying.
  • Applicants must possess at least a junior or senior secondary school certificate and be literate in English or the local language.
  • Applicants resident in Siun/Ogere and Abeokuta, Ogun state (locations of the training facility) will be given preference.
  • Applicants must have access to a functioning mobile phone.
  • Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to participate in all aspects of the training.
  • Applicants with specific disabilities are also encouraged to apply. However, this must be clearly communicated during the application period.
  • Applicants must be ready to commit three months to this program.
  • Applicants must be willing to undergo an internship in relevant machine fabrication companies.
