EPFL/UM6P Scholarship 2023 for African Students in Switzerland
The EPFL/UM6P Scholarship 2023 for African Students in Switzerland is a fully funded research opportunity for suitably qualified African students who are interested in completing their research worth at the host university in Africa for the 2023/2024 academic session.
UM6P and EPFL have created a program called 100 Ph. D.s for Africa that offers financial support for students who want to pursue a Ph.D. at an African institution. This Ph.D. scholarship program is geared toward the advancement of science and engineering and will involve collaboration between EPFL professors and Ph.D. students.
The École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a research university in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, and it has three missions: education, research, and technology transfer at the highest international level. EPFL offers bachelor, master, and doctoral programs in a wide variety of fields, ranging from basic sciences to engineering and architecture, as well as interdisciplinary programs. Research at EPFL is organized into seven faculties covering a broad range of topics, including natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, architecture, environmental sciences, communications, information technology, and management of technology.

Scholarship Worth: This program will enable Ph.D. applicants to be jointly supervised by an EPFL professor and a professor of an African institution. During their doctoral studies, they will remain based at their home institution but will visit EPFL and UM6P for short periods of time, such as during summer and spring schools, workshops, and conferences. Upon completion of their studies, they will be awarded their doctorate by their African institution.

Eligibility for the EPFL/UM6P Scholarship 2023 for African Students in Switzerland:
- Applicants must be a national of an African country.
- Applicants must hold a Master’s degree awarded after the 1st of January 2020 or be enrolled in the final year of the master’s study.
- Applicants must have an outstanding academic track record.
- Applicants must be enrolled in an African academic institution and reside in an African country for the duration of the Ph.D.
- Applicants must have the endorsement of a professor of an African institution willing to supervise the doctoral thesis for its full duration.
