Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship 2023 for Professional Women Journalist
Women journalists who possess the necessary qualifications are encouraged to apply for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship 2023 for Professional Women Journalists for the 2023/2024 academic year.
In tribute to Elizabeth Neuffer, the IWMF has established a Fellowship that offers academic and professional growth opportunities to women and nonbinary journalists specializing in human rights and social justice. This program seeks to further the reporting skills of these individuals and keep Elizabeth Neuffer’s legacy alive. This Graduate Fellowship, created for female, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming journalists with a minimum of three years of professional experience in print, broadcast, or digital media (either as a staff journalist or freelance), is funded by the International Women’s Media Foundation and hosted by MIT’s Center for International Studies. Eligibility is limited to individuals with a Bachelor’s degree.
The International Women’s Media Foundation is based in Washington, D.C., and is dedicated to improving the status of women in the media worldwide. Founded in 1990, the IWMF strives to create practical solutions to the challenges women journalists encounter in their careers and lives. The organization provides grants and fellowships, carries out research into the status of women in the media, and bestows Courage in Journalism, Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism, and Lifetime Achievement Awards. Additionally, the IWMF advocates for press freedom and petitions international governments to release and protect journalists in danger.
