Interested students from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries can now apply for the Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarships 2025-2026. This chance is for anyone interested in conducting innovative research at a University in the UK for one year in the framework of a doctoral program.

Eligibility;

  • Be a citizen of or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be registered for a PhD at a university in an eligible Commonwealth country by September 2025.
  • Ensure a formal institutional or departmental link exists between their home university and the proposed UK university. This link must extend beyond individual collaborations.
  • Be available to begin studies in the UK by September 2025.
  • Hold at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors degree or a lower second-class degree with a relevant Master’s qualification by September 2025.
  • Demonstrate financial need and inability to afford to study in the UK without a scholarship.
  • Provide all required supporting documentation in the correct format.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Airfare: Approved flights from the home country to the UK and back at the end of the scholarship.
  • Tuition Fees: Fully covered.
  • £1,378 for universities outside London.
  • £1,690 for universities in the London metropolitan area.
  • Warm Clothing Allowance: Provided when necessary.
  • Study Travel Grant: Financial support for study-related travel within the UK or overseas.

Child Allowance:

  • £590 per month for the first child.
  • £146 per month for the second and third child (under 16 years old), for single parents or scholars who are widowed or divorced if children reside at the same address in the UK.
