AS Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship 2025 for Studies in UK
Applications are ongoing for the AS Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship 2025, which offers fully funded master’s programs at the University of Exeter, UK. This unique opportunity is for teachers and education professionals in low and middle-income contexts who are committed to the improvement of practice in ELT & ELA within their contexts.
The Master’s scholarship covers all fees for the MEd TESOL program as well as living expenses. Up to 10 scholarships are available for September 2025. This is a chance to extend one’s pedagogy knowledge and join a group of professors from around the world who are trying to improve education practice.
The selection of the students is coordinated both by the University of Exeter as well as the Hornby Trust so that the scholarship will be provided to those applicants who would be able to contribute to social change in their home countries.

Eligibility;
- Be a resident of a country classified as Least Developed, Low Income, Lower Middle Income, or Upper Middle Income by the OECD DAC.
- Have at least three years of full-time TESOL teaching or related professional experience after earning your first degree.
- Hold an undergraduate degree with grades equivalent to UK upper second-class honors or higher, or a relevant postgraduate degree.
- Submit a postgraduate application for the MEd TESOL program at the University of Exeter to receive an Exeter student number.
- This number is required for your Hornby Scholarship application.

Method of Application;
To apply, follow these steps:
Submit Your Application to the University of Exeter:
- Begin by completing the University of Exeter application form for admission to the MEd TESOL program. Once you have applied, you will receive an Exeter student number.
- After obtaining your Exeter student number, complete the Hornby Scholarship application form.
As part of your scholarship application, write a cover letter of no more than 1,000 words answering these three questions:
Question 1: Identify one significant challenge that you and other English language teachers face in your teaching context. Explain how studying the MEd TESOL at the University of Exeter would help you address this challenge. (Maximum 400 words)
Question 2: Share an example of how you supported another teacher’s classroom practice or professional development in your teaching context. (Maximum 400 words)
Question 3: Highlight why your knowledge, skills, and experience make you a strong candidate for the Hornby Scholarship. (Maximum 200 words)
