The South African Reserve Bank External Bursary Scheme 2027

The South African Reserve Bank External Bursary Scheme 2027 is open for application from young South African students who are looking to pursue an undergraduate degree program at a South African university.

The SARB, as part of addressing the severe shortage of skills in South Africa, provides The South African Reserve Bank External Bursary Scheme to students in relevant fields of study who are from disadvantaged backgrounds to undertake an undergraduate degree program at any South African university starting from the 2027 academic year.

In support of the corporate social initiatives of the SARB and its External Bursary Scheme, a number of external Undergraduate scholarships and bursaries are made available annually to qualifying prospective students.

Requirements

To be considered for The South African Reserve Bank External Bursary Scheme 2027, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have provisional acceptance into an undergraduate degree at a South African university;
  • Have achieved an average pass mark of 70% in the June Grade 12/Matric examinations, with the final awarding of the bursary subject to final results;
    Be younger than 30 years of age; and
  • Be in financial need (unable to afford to attend university without a bursary)
