Eligibility for the Google PhD Fellowship 2023 for International Students:

Nominated students in Australia and New Zealand, East Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada must meet the following criteria below

  • Only full-time graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. and enrolled in a university in a specified region should be nominated by the institution.
  • Universities must select candidates who have finished their studies by the Fall of the year the fellowship is to commence. For most US and Canadian universities, this is the third year of study.
  • In order to keep the Fellowship, students must stay enrolled as full-time Ph.D. students throughout the duration of the program.
  • Applicants must not be google employees and their spouses, children, and members of their household.
  • Applicants must not be students already supported by a comparable industry.

Direct Applicant Students in Africa and India must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be full-time graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. and enrolled in an African or Indian institution.
  • Applicants must be early-stage Ph.D. students enrolled for one year or less.
  • Applicants who are currently in their first year of a part-time Ph.D. program and transferring to full-time positions.

Benefits of the Google PhD Fellowship 2023 for International Students:

Africa: US $30K to cover stipend and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel, and Google Research Mentor

Australia and New Zealand: AUD $10K to cover stipend and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel, and Google Research Mentor

East Asia: US $10K to cover stipend and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel, and Google Research Mentor

Europe: Up to 3-year Fellowship of yearly bursary towards stipend/salary, health care, social benefits, tuition and fees, conference travel, and personal computing equipment and Google Research Mentor

India: US $50K to cover stipend and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel for early stage students while US $10K to recognize research contributions, cover stipend and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel for late stage students

Southeast Asia: US $10K per year for up to 3 years to cover stipend and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel

United States and Canada: Full tuition and fees (enrollment fees, health insurance, books) plus a stipend to be used for living expenses, travel, and personal equipment
