King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa 2022 UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education

King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa is inviting suitably qualified applicants who are not affiliated to UNESCO or receive any funding from UNESCO to submit application for the 2022 UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education worth US$ 25,000 in prize money.

The King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa 2022 UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education was established in 2005 with the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Prize rewards outstanding individuals and organizations that are implementing outstanding projects and promoting the creative use of technologies to enhance learning, teaching and overall educational performance in the digital age. The theme for 2022 is “The use of public platforms to ensure inclusive access to digital education content” as it recognizes innovative approaches in leveraging new technologies to expand educational and lifelong learning opportunities for all in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Goal 4 on education.

King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa is the King of Bahrain since February 14, 2002 after ruling as Emir of Bahrain from March 6, 1999. He is the son of Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the previous and first emir. The country has been ruled by the Al Khalifa dynasty since 1783.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations aimed at promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, arts, sciences and culture.

Eligibility for the King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa 2022 UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education:

  • Applicants should not be affiliated to UNESCO or receive any funding from UNESCO.
  • Applicants should ensure the technology tools used by the project be made open and free.
  • Individuals, institutions and non governmental organizations or other entities are welcome to apply.

Prize for the King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa 2022 UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education:

  • Two best projects are selected annually.
  • Each prize winner receives US$ 25,000.
  • Each prize winner receives a medal.
  • Each prize winner receives a diploma during a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Selection Criteria for the King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa 2022 UNESCO Prize for the Use of ICT in Education:

  • Relevance to the theme of focus.
  • Innovation.
  • Evidence of impact.
  • Potential for replicability.
  • Inclusion and equity.
